The link between my art and The Traitors

Currently the nation is hooked on The Celebrity Traitors. For anyone that doesn’t know what The Traitors is, it’s a BBC game show series known for its two camps of contestants - “traitors” and “faithfuls”. The aim of the game is for “faithful” contestants to uncover the contestants that are “traitors”.

The Traitors Set Design

The Traitors is set in a beautiful Scottish Castle in the Highlands called Ardross Castle. The decor is exquisite; think oak panelling, deep dark blues, with a modern gothic vibe. If you’re anything like me, you spend half the time admiring The Traitors’ interior design, rather than focusing on how the game panes out.

It’s my laser focus which enabled me to spot something other than the main Traitors’ props of scrolls and poison objects, and that is an antique jug.

Gold and blue antique jug

Antique jug in The Traitors

There is an antique gold and blue jug in the Traitors which I own and has stared in one of my oil paintings, ‘Clementimes in a Gold Vase’. Yes, I do call it a vase when it’s a jug, because I use it as one for putting flowers in!

This discovery makes me so happy, especially because it confirms that I have the same taste as the set designer of The Traitors (AKA good taste!)

The jug is a gold Victorian Lustre jug with a rare gold glaze, made in England.
